This panel discussion considers practical strategies for cultural heritage institutions in describing and portraying the cultural dynamics of their communities. Following on from the keynote address, I will illustrate some possible approaches and pose the following questions:
- To what extent do traditional cultural heritage institutions reflect and represent the cultural heritage of the whole community?
- How should and how can information professionals reach outside traditional cultural heritage institutions to gather, manage and make accessible all the records and information of the community whether tangible or intangible?
- Where is the meeting point between technology, information, archives, libraries, museums and the community, and how does technology facilitate a non-textual expansive view of cultural heritage?
